A Pakistani excise ministry official throws seized bottles of alcohol and narcotics into a fire in Karachi on February 2, 2010. The narcotics included 105 kilograms of heroin and over 42,000 kilograms of hashish, which the authorities had confiscated during various seizures last year, which were destroyed to reiterate the country's resolve against the spread of narcotics in the South Asian nuclear-armed nation. To go with Afghanistan-health-animal,FEATURE by Edouard Guihaire
In this photograph taken on June 1, 2014, a dog (R) walks near the body of her puppy (L) as Afghan municipal workers loads carcasses of stray dogs onto the back of a truck following a poisoning drive on the outskirts of Kabul. About 17,600 dogs were poisoned last year by municipal workers in the Afghan capital in an effort to protect residents from disease and to control the rocketing population of canines that roam the city's streets and open ground.
